Week 2 Post
What did I learn this week?
This week, I learned about the eight characteristics of living things and more details about what they are. I also learned about the dormant and active states of seeds. It was interesting to know that when a source is fixed, it is not alive. I learned that the head needs to wait for the right conditions to revive itself again. This means that the seed needs to wait for something special to happen; for example, if given water, warmth, or light, it will show the characteristics of a living thing.
Can you relate to what you learned with what you already knew?
While learning in the lab this week, I could relate to what I learned in elementary school in class. I remember it was about third grade, and we started talking about photosynthesis. It needed to be more detailed than in our class, but I remember discussing the basics in elementary school.
How can you apply what you learned to your teaching future?
I will apply the models and activities we did in our lab this week. I will do similar things as we did this week because they are great activities to show the starting of a plant's growth and what a plant needs to grow and change. The chart we did in class was a great visual aid for learning the eight characteristics of all living things, and I will definitely be using that activity in my future classroom.
I agree I think these would be great activities to use in our future classrooms. Being able to visually see the eight characteristics would help students remember the characteristics much better. Creating posters like this also allows students to use their creativity and personalize each characteristic to what makes sense to them. I will definitely do activities like this in my future classroom too!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I also was able to recall lots of information from what we've learned in elementary and middle school! I love how you already know that you that you want to incorporate visual aids into your future classroom.
