week 13
What did you learn this week?
- This week in our lab section, we learned how the particle theory of matter can support elementary students in learning about matter and its interactions. We talked about how we can build models that help us provide evidence to support our claims about a specific concept. We also learned that when you make models, you have to think about if you are making them to show how things look or why they are the way they are. When you are trying to figure out why you are making the model the way you are, there are many different things to think about.
How can you apply what you learned to your future teachings?
-The way we talked about how to find data that will support a specific claim is how I will teach my students because it was apparent how we discussed it in class. I would definitely do the M&M activity in my future class because it will be fun for the students and can be modified to be more difficult or less complicated, depending on what grade I teach in the future.
Questions?
- How can you show particles to young children when they are just learning what particles are?
- How do you explain what particles are to young children?
Hi Madison! I really liked your blog post and how you talked about using the m & m activity in your future classroom, I will be doing that too!
ReplyDeleteHi!! I am also curious about how to teach young students about particles, because we can't see them...especially with substances/liquids. I also would do the M&M activity in my future classroom! Wonderful post.
