Week 15
What did you learn this week?
- This week in our lab section, I learned more about making observations and inferences. The thing about making inferences is that you have to make a lot of observations to have a correct inference. During our activity with the film canisters that we did, I did not make enough observations other than using my sense of hearing to make this observation, and I believe that is why I did not get the correct inference of what the object was. All in all, I learned that you need to think outside the box and do tests to get a correct inference from your observations. Observations do not just use your sense of sight or sound.
How can you use what you learned in your future teachings?
- We read a book called Dr. Xargle's Book of Earthlets, and this book showed how some observations are not correct inferences. I believe this is a great introduction to an observation and inference activity like the one we did in our class. I think using this book will help the students get excited and have fun with their activities.
Questions?
-How can we change the activity we did in our class to best fit younger grades K-2?
-What is another activity to show the power of observations when making inferences?
